Layering Your Spring Dresses | Get The Look

Updated: Apr 17, 2020

I’ve been craving shopping so bad since this quarantine started. The saying “Retail Therapy” has never been more relevant, anytime I’m going through a tough time, there is nothing better than going shopping; it’s truly my happy place. Online shopping doesn’t do it for me, I love the interactions I have while shopping. I worked fashion retail for roughly 7 years and I loved talkative customers, they were my favourite. So I try to be that customer now; a lot of retail workers can go a whole day without having a nice customer, which makes me so sad: “Be the change you want to see in the world” I guess.

My current therapy has been creating these outfits for you guys and finding the look for you to buy from home! In this blog post I hope to teach you all easy tricks to layering your favourite spring dresses. Since Spring on the east coast of Canada means something different than the rest of the world, we have to adapt differently. Every Spring I struggle to find a balance between something “Springy” and still warm. One of my favourite tricks is layering so I can change my outfit throughout the day to adapt to the weather accordingly.

An item that a lot of people forget to layer is their dresses! They can be a little trickier to layer if you don’t know the right way of doing it. My general rule of thumb is to keep things balanced. If you are wearing a flowy dress, keep your top fitted; and if you’re wearing a fitted dress you can wear a baggy top. Another trick is to play with belts that define your waist. The real thing you want to watch out for when layering your dresses is that you don’t lose yourself in it. This can be true for any flowy fitted item, your body is worth showing, don’t hide behind baggy clothes that don’t flatter you.

If you guys have any questions about layering, reach out to me on Facebook or Instagram @lavishnrose, I would love to hear from you!
